I briefly mentioned in Monday’s post that it was time for all of you with a camera and a desire to read another fun book in the Gardella Vampire Chronicles to prepare yourself to support author Colleen Gleason during the first week of the release of her book When Twilight Burns.
The way you can do that, and get a chance to win fun prizes, is to get your gear ready, put your creativity cap on, and plan to hit your local bookstore during the week of August 5th through August 11th!
And what can you win? Come with me and I’ll tell you.

But first,
The above image is the cover that you will be looking to pick up next week. It is also the book that needs to be featured in the photo that you send to me via email.
Remember, there are two ways for you to enter this contest:
Number One: Simply buy the book that week and take a picture of yourself holding the book. For example:

Number Two: Take a “CREATIVE” picture of yourself with the book. For example:

Regardless of which type of image you choose to enter, the book must be included in your picture!!!
The “creative” entries will be judged by myself and Colleen Gleason. The standard wonderful reader with the book images (in other words, option one) will be placed into a random drawing for a prize.
Colleen Gleason has graciously agreed to the creation of a prize pack for each of the two winners which includes:
An ARC of As Shadows Fade (due out March 2009–so you will get it early!!!)
A t-shirt (of size/color I have in stock–modeled below by the lovely author herself)
A signed cover flat of As Shadows Fade (and example from the last book can be seen in the opening image of this post)
Signed bookmarks

It is vitally important for an author, any author, to have a good first week of sales. By running this contest I can encourage you to do your part to make this coming week the best ever for Colleen’s book sales and can also give you an opportunity to win some really fun stuff.
Don’t let yourself be intimidated out of trying a creative entry. Hopefully the above images will inspire you. Also, if you just don’t have it in you, or don’t have the time, please enter with a standard entry.
I will be giving away a few consolation prizes (signed bookmarks) to some of the entrants that don’t win the main two prize packs. If all goes according to plan I will be meeting Colleen Gleason later in August and will be getting some stuff signed at that time.
I really look forward to seeing your entries, despite the fact that instead of getting this, I may end up with a lot of images like this.
I absolutely love the way you always manage to work that picture of Jeff in! π
BTW – I’m off to see Dark Knight tomorrow afternoon. SO excited….
i can’t wait to see this year’s photos! π
Ack! Another picture returns from the dead! Sheesh.
Carl–You always have the funnest competitions! I love the photos and hope you’ll post all of them that you get! I have Colleen’s first two books, which I plan on reading for your upcoming RIP Challenge (am assuming you’re going to do it?). Now I see I am getting behind and will have to get her newer books as well!
Love the little Brownie camera by the way.
I love vampire reads; I’m looking her up right now!
Danielle: Thanks, the Brownie camera is a favorite nick-nack of mine! I will definitely post any photos I receive and I hope to have as good a selection as I did for this last contest. I am indeed doing the R.I.P. Challenge (details coming in a few weeks).
Medbie: Do, I think you would enjoy these. The first novel was great fun and each successive novel has gotten stronger and built on the one that went before. There is one more coming in March and then this series is over. I look forward to seeing what Colleen Gleason will be doing next!
