Vednesday Vanderings

“Lisa, vampires are make-believe, like elves, gremlins, and eskimos.”
~Homer Simpson

I got mine, have you gotten yours? Don’t delay, only 5 more days to qualify for that Advanced Reading Copy of The Bleeding Dusk (details here). Get those pics in!!!

Chris has gotten his. Like Chris, my Barnes and Noble did not have their books shelved today, so I took myself over to Borders to pick up my copy of Rises the Night. While you are at the bookstore, check out the magazine section:

Looks to be a must have issue celebrating more Star Wars 30th Anniversary goodness. Forgive me, I am not over it yet.

Also (thanks Chris), the latest issue of Realms of Fantasy Magazine is on shelves. It features an article by Terri Windling on Rapunzel, and an article on Charles Vess and his art for the Stardust film.

Speaking of Terri Windling (and by extension, Endicott Studio), you simply must check out this post. The art is amazing. While you are over there, wish Endicott Studio a Happy 20th Anniversary!

And before you leave the Endicott blog, watch the amazing video, Women in (Western) Art. I applaud the dedication it took to put this together and I marveled at some of the wonderful classical artwork.

Does Ray Bradbury know what his own book is about? Whose interpretation is more correct, the author’s or the reader’s? Is television (and film) an active or passive medium? These questions simply must be answered. By you. Take a jaunt over to Neth’s post and weigh in on the subject.

Thus Says Suzanne suggests rumors that Jericho may return. CBS’s official statement hints at possible closure. Are there any truth to the rumors? Stay tuned.

And finally, Deslily has expounded upon issues raised in my recent blow-up doll post regarding stuff and the place it does have and should have in our lives. It is very well put and makes for fascinating discussion.

I think that is enough to keep you busy. Remember to pay your friendly neighborhood bookstore a visit this week, it misses you…

Keep those pics coming and check out Colleen’s site for other ways to win an advanced copy of The Bleeding Dusk.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

  1. Quit trying to scare your readers away Carl 😉 Those are great. Mine pales in comparison. I debated pulling out the old vampire fangs, but settled on just a plain old pic.

You know, I just realized that I saw that magazine (Star Wars Insider) at Borders today and didn’t even flip through it much less buy it! Doh!

  2. Scary is right, especially after my recent battle with the hair stylist, in which my hair lost mightily!

  3. Carl! What a great pic! (Not to mention, I’ve been dying to put an image to your name, you know?)

I’m going to hijack one of those pics and put it on my blog today, with a link here, okay?

Thanks. Those pics made my day!!

  4. Feel free, Colleen! Are you telling me you’ve never seen this picture? 😉

Someday you may find a pix of me on here that isn’t so goofy. Oh wait, there is one, here.

BTW, Jericho fans, here’s another article talking about the shows possible resurrection.

  5. Oh that’s just great..now there’s 2 magazines I want and getting them will probably never happen, since I have no way to any store when someone else is here to watch my brother..sigh..

Thanks for the mention Carl.. between you and Chris the topic wouldn’t leave my head lol.

oh btw.. you wouldn’t happen to have a blow up Harrison Ford doll that you’d like to send my way would you?

  6. Pingback: Vamp attack?
  7. Too funny!
I’m hoping to stop by my local Target in the next couple days anyway.. I’ll have to see if I can find Colleen’s book..

  8. I picked my copy of Rises the Night yesterday and the Realms of Fantasy mag but I didn’t see the Star Wars special which looks cool. Great photos Carl!

I have also been following the Jericho news these past few days and I’m keeping my fingers crossed on something official coming out soon.

  9. I’m very excited that the Nuts Campaign may have worked some magic with the CBS executives and that we may get Jericho back. I want my show back! (I can’t believe you were not watching the show.)

  10. I don’t know if it’ll get me in the contest, but I bought The Rest Falls Away today online. It should be here by next week. I gotta go in order, it’s just the way I am.

  11. I’m on a vampire kick; I’m starting Rises the Night tonight and this morning I finished All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris. Pretty good, but to understand it I think you’d have to read all the previous books (it’s kind of a series).

  12. Great post!! I’m going tomorrow or Friday to get my book!! I’ll try to take a camera. I hate having my picture taken, so I may have to conveniently forget it!!

Yeah….I posted a Save Jericho post on my blog today!! I loved that show. The article I read, said they are considering a midseason run of 7 episodes. But I think if they do end up bringing it back, it will be for more than just those 7 episodes. The deluge by the fans is HUGE! I don’t think they’d settle for just a conclusion!

  13. Endicott has the coolest site. I pop over there all the time now. And add to my TBR list. Good pictures; I like the pensive look.

  14. Heheheh…Carl, those pics are great – but are you trying to TURN us? What are you implying?

Last review is up, of the Gaiman book, and with that I haul my weary carcass over the Once Upon A Time finish line, enter a couple of drawings, and nestle in for a snack with the other finishers. 😉

  15. Carl, I sent you a picture of me with the book, however I didn’t realize how enormous it was! If you’d rather steal the picture from my blog, feel free; it’s already sized properly. Your Friend, The Computer Idiot
