Not-so-Random Picture Tuesday

In the tradition of great sites like The Tourist, though this is but a poor reflection, today’s post will contain some recent photographs sans commentary. Okay, even I have a hard time believing that! I will at least try to keep the comments to a minimum. Watch the birdie!

Our own Kansas City Royals have been even more of an embarrassment to Major League Baseball this year than they have in previous years. Despite being 2-13 and in an 11 loss dive we decided to spend some of our hard earned cash to go to the baseball game last Saturday night. Hey, it was Buck Night. Dollar dogs, dollar peanuts, dollar drinks. This plus entertainment at only $9 a person, who could resist? Abby and Mike joined us as did their niece Belle.

(Yes, the pregame entertainment was that good!)

(Dollar hotdogs? That’s 100 pennies worth of total suckitude!)

(Me in a hotdog induced haze! Actually my eyes are getting more light sensitive than they used to be so I look like I’m perpetually hung over.)

(Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge discussing the finer points of baseball with the umpires after his pitcher Jeremy Guthrie, and then Wedge himself, were ejected.)

(Even the chance of free donuts couldn’t keep Belle awake)

The scoreboard doesn’t lie! I personally broke the losing streak by getting tickets to the game. Hooray for me. My mojo shortcircuited though and I wasn’t able to get the boys to complete one more hit to get us to that magic number twelve which would’ve insured all of us a free dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme! Is it any wonder that Kansas City frequently ranks high in the list of fattest cities when you hear a stadium of nearly 20,000 people chanting “We want donuts, we want donuts!!!”.

(It is never too early to be the designated driver.)

I had promised some pictures of my bathroom redo a while back. Its a tiny bathroom and impossible to get any kind of wide angle shot, but here are at least two pics to give you some idea of the color scheme. Robot pictures courtesy of Brian Despain.

A few weeks ago when I received my very own limited edition Red, I was only able to post a picture of the one photographed for Lisa Snellings-Clark’s site. Here are a few pictures of my very own Red.

(Red in the spot where she currently resides. My favorite corner of the house. Love that comfy leather chair.)

(close up of Red in her environment.)

(Against white door for contrast)

I am still very excited about owning one of Lisa’s limited creations. Lisa has a new gallery site up in addition to her blog. Go check it out and look in the two galleries for some amazing examples of Lisa’s many and varied creations.

  1. I’m personally very glad you broke that losing streak. I don’t think I could take much more of it.

Well, that was probably the first of about 5 eleven game losing streaks I bet they have this year.

  2. I thought about offering my services to the Royals for the remainder of the season. If they would pony up the tickets and parking and free eats I would rearrange my life schedule to help them continue winning.

  3. Thanks, we really like it as well. Would like to do a few more small things to it but overall it turned out better than I had hoped.

  4. Great pics at the ballpark. I love going. It feels so big and spacious there. I love the junk food, too. James really wants to take me to a Wizards game. They are a winning team!

I am not bringing the kids to your home again unless you promise to put Red in a safe place first. I don’t think my nerves could handle her and my children being in the same room together.

I love the name Belle. She’s precious.

  5. The weather was so perfect out Saturday night as well. It was a great time!

Don’t worry Jules, Red has made several trips to the basement already for just such an occasion, the first was when dear Jelly was over the other night. I have a wholesome dread of having her there as well and will most likely move her to the bedroom if I ever get my bookshelf built for there. Its hard though because I love her where she is.

Belle was the most serious, quiet, sober little doll that I’ve ever met. She didn’t mind who held her or anything but that kid was tough to get a smile out of. She was fun to snuggle with though.

  6. Love the pictures at the ball game,Carl. If we ever make our move to the KC area ,I would go to the games ,even if they lose. Dad and I enjoyed it so much when you took us. There is so much going on and some of the people are so fun to observe!

Belle is a doll. Did the noise bother her?

Red is a pretty statue-I would put her up when lots of people were around! Your bathroom looks so nice-did you put colored light bulbs in-or do they just look that way?

  7. All those baseball pics and you moaned about my tiny little rugby post πŸ˜‰

Red looks great, and Belle looks a real character, bet she’s a dote.

  8. Having only seen Belle that one time I am convinced that nothing would bother that kid, she’s very calm and good natured.

Nope, the lights are the same as always, they just look that way.

Its interesting how when you buy something that you really can’t afford to financially or emotionally replace how you feel about it. I enjoy the heck out of having that piece of art but at the same time have these nightmare scenarios go through my head about how she’ll be broke. Can’t imagine how I’ll feel if I ever get off my butt and start making my own stuff!!! πŸ˜‰

And in my defense, Fence, I barely talked about baseball in comparison to your rugby post! πŸ˜‰

  9. When we took Belle back to her parents she did smile finally. She was so good. I hope Mike and I’s kids are so well behaved. She didn’t cry at any of the fireworks or anything that night. In fact, she didn’t even jump at all the loud booms.

  10. It was so much fun to be at the game with my family as well as little Belle (AKA Isabelle). Abby is right, she just looked up at the boom of the fireworks, but did not seem concerned.

I love Red, but I am a little paranoid now that Carl has gone on and on about the chance of it getting ruined…

Carl’s paragraph makes it sound like Jules’ little girl is the subject of this sentence. She is not of course as we love her and don’t lock her in the bedroom.

“I have a wholesome dread of having her there as well and will most likely move her to the bedroom if I ever get my bookshelf built for there. Its hard though because I love her where she is.”

  11. In the “frowning picture” Belle is actually chewing on a little bite of hotdog. Carl just caught her mid-chew. She looks so cute in those pictures and was a very snuggly baby.

Great pictures of the ump and manager having words, Carl.

  12. I mean Jelly-baby…I have a wholesome dread that I’ll want to snatch her up and hide her in the bedroom so Jules can’t take her cuteness back!!!

Thanks for pointing out my grammatical errors sweetums! Don’t worry, the nightmare scenarios always have me breaking it, not anyone else! Allay your paranoia!!!

  13. Just so ya know, it’s spelled Jeli. It’s taken from the middle of her name, An-jeli-a. πŸ˜‰ I just thought I’d correct you, too. Mary started it! :p

  14. That is true…very, very true!!! The force of cuteness, for sure. With 3 older sisters probably the force of orneriness too!

  15. great pictures!! that kid’s got such an expressive face – i especially like the one right after the yawn

    (hehe – no commentary… riiight…)

  16. The Glass family should personnelly invite all of you back for the rest of the games this season. I’m happy so happy you were able to see one of the teams 40 wins this season. Now let’s put aside this Royals talk and talk Chief’s DRAFT!!!!!!!! Please draft some defense Carl. (Editor’s note…that’s Carl Peterson, Chiefs general manager…I have some power but not that much!!!)

Fence what is this Rugby you speak of? πŸ™‚

I hope everyone has the opportunity to see the Red statue in person someday. Truely amazing!

  17. awww, you plugged me! yay!
there’s a pic up of a mermaid right now who looks like she’d be good friends with your Red. although, Red does have a cat mask, so maybe she’d eat the mermaid…or at least chase her tail…hmmm.

belle is a beautifully expressive lil girl.

  18. I saw the Mermaid picture…its GREAT! I always thought of this as a fox mask? Hmmmmm….could be completely wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time.
