Monthly Uberlist Update, the first

Okay, so at the beginning of this year I waxed eloquent about the Uberlist concept and made my list. Since it is a fluid list vs. a set of resolutions it has grown over the past month and is currently up to 110 items. I was overly ambitious with what I thought I would accomplish this first month but I did fairly well. My list is typed on Word so when I complete an item I change the font color to red rather than delete the item so that I can see what I’ve accomplished. One time items are in black. Ongoing things such as pick up dirty cloths before leaving for work are in blue. Any deadline dates changed are in purple so I can keep track of things that had to be extended to complete.

Overall I’m quite pleased. Things like drinking water vs. pop, tea, etc. and starting to exercise seem to have alluded me thus far though thankfully there is still time to get into Speedo shape by the summer. πŸ˜‰ Despite this I have:

1. Read 7 books this month, making me 3 ahead of where I need to be to reach my goal of 50 books this year.

2. Put up shelves in basement (with Jeff’s help) and began organizing collectibles, art supplies, etc.

3. Organized my Favorites folder on my home PC (not an easy task, believe me).

4. Cleaned and organized bathroom shelves (and have managed to keep it organized).

5. Updated my comics pull list in an effort to cut back, go for quality, and save money.

6. Repaired my damaged garage door.

7. Made preliminary plans for bathroom redecoration.

I have also been tracking several things in my journal that are part of my Uberlist.

In addition there are ongoing Uberlist items that are broken out into once a month and quarterly time slots and I have done pretty well with these. I am reading to Mary and we’ve been working on Tori’s room.

I plan to give monthly updates like this, no doubt much to your chagrin, as it helps me to remain focused and accountable.

Here’s hoping for an even more productive and enjoyable February!

Its never too late to be an Uberlister, so feel free to join in!

Happy Groundhog Day everyone! Evidently we are in for 6 more weeks of winter. Considering the average temperature here has been in the 50’s, 20 degrees above normal, I don’t know what “winter” actually means this year!

  1. Heaven. Reading what you’ve done so far has exhausted me. I guess I’ll be uberlisting vicariously through you then… Well done!

  2. Speaking of I really need to watch that Bill Murray movie again sometime, it is one of my favorites of his movies and always cracks me up.

  3. If it’s going to be another 6 weeks of what we’ve had, bring it on! I can deal with 20+ degrees above normal.

I wish I had finished 7 books – I think I only did 3, so obviously more reading time is needed.
Especially because I cannot buy new books until the stack of 50+ is reduced dramatically.

  4. You’re an inspiration Shannin…my book pile, over 50, will most likely not stop me from buying new books…in fact one of the ones I read was a whim purchase that I read quite quickly and really enjoyed.

  5. I’m impressed. Good job on the uber list accomlishments. Although I’m worried that you actually had to write down the picking up the clothes thing. Poor Mary. I look forward to more updates and anticiapte a speedo photo later this year. πŸ™‚

  6. Why wait Jeff, I can send the photo right to your email address!!!

  7. Uh wait …I need to block your email address just give me a second… ok I’m good now.

  8. Good show. Rah Rah, etc.

In my neck of the woods, we have an albino groundhog named Wiarton Willie, and he has the good graces to predict spring, so hurrah for him!

  9. Hello Jay! If it turns out to be winter here ever I’ll consider following your groundhog’s forecasting and head to Canada!

  10. Probably the prayer would be the better option Pat! πŸ˜‰
