Wacky Winter Weirdness

Its been quite awhile since I have done one of these meme posts and since I was “tagged” by Janet I thought I’d go ahead and post my answers and encourage you to do the same.

Here are the rules:

“The first player of this game starts with the topic “five weird habits of yourself,” and people who get tagged need to write an entry about their five weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged and link to their web journals. Don’t forget to leave a comment in their blog or journal that says “You are tagged” (assuming they take comments) and tell them to read yours.”

And so, without further ado, here are

Five Weird Habits of Mine:

1. After the initial go around I prefer to eat meat cold: chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs…this actually doesn’t just apply to meat now that I think of it. I like stuffing cold, and rice-a-roni, etc. Those cheap tacos from Taco Bell…love em cold!

2. I have certain books that I feel compelled to re-read every year around the same time of year. I don’t always go through with it but the feeling is still there: Peanuts and Dracula in early fall, Stainless Steel Rat and Stardust in the spring, sci-fi favorites in the winter, Neverwhere pretty much anytime.

3. I am a habitual movie re-watcher. There are certain movies that I can watch over and over again and thoroughly enjoy each time. I think a common thread with these movies that I like to rewatch is dialogue. Movies like Emma, Sense and Sensibility, An Ideal Husband, Return to Me, You Can’t Take it With You, Twelfth Night…it is the witty banter between characters that I like. That is one of the main reasons Firefly/Serenity became an instant favorite when I was introduced to it.

4. I love to put candy birthday cake letters on vanilla ice cream and eat it. I tend to not eat breakfast but on the days I do its usually because there is ice cream or left over pizza around. I like orange juice with tons of ice in the glass and love to drink it when eating chocolate.

5. I change my voice mail message on my work phone every day to reflect that days’ date and to indicate which building I’ll be in and when. I’m one of the few if only people at my place of employment to do this and often get complimented on it by my fellow co-workers. The truth is I got in the habit of doing it when an old boss used to think I was never around so I did it initially out of paranoia. Now its just an unusual habit.

There you go, bitches (Janet’s words, not mine πŸ™‚ )

Okay, those tagged with blogs would be:
1. Jules
2. Rob
3. Angela
4. Fence
5. Mosker and Suzanne

I’m breaking the rules and calling out you other bloggers too, Mysfit, Jenn See, Ciera, Anne, Shannin and anyone else.

Participate if you want but I won’t be offended if you don’t.

Non-blog owners feel free to post your 5 weird habits in the comments…actually you bloggers can do this to if you don’t want to put them on your own site.

Happy weirdness!!!

  2. I’ve just lived my own personal American thriller ending.
See, I was delighted not to be in the first named. And then your arm reached out in slo-mo and tagged me anyway.

  3. Sorry Anne, its that “include everyone” thing in me…and my inability to follow rules as they are laid out. πŸ™‚

  4. hmm… since most of the scifi fans probably wouldn’t care about my weird habits.. i’ll post here.
1- i like things to match… my christmas decorations are blue & silver, so i bought wrapping paper that matched so the presents under the tree all color-coordinated. my roomate made fun of me & bought a blue & silver christmas card for me.

2- i like doing word puzzles. i buy those variety puzzles from dell or pennypress like my grandma gets. usually, i just used to do them on long trips. now, i’m so addicted to them, i’ll do them when i’m bored at work or while watching a movie.

3- i like eating peanuts, but not when their IN anything.

4- i like flavored coffee, but not flavored creamer.

5- my curse of no more than 3 dates with the same guy is now down to 1 this year.

  5. Good stuff Angela!

And yes M.E., we may just be related as I don’t know anyone else who likes cold stuffing.

  6. LOL, first of all…cold meat? cold tacos? That IS weird! Secondly, I love to drink oj with a peanut butter sandwich, and my friends think that’s weird. Thirdly, OMG, you’re an includer!!! Finally, it wasn’t MY word, I stole it from Krista, who stole it from another blogger…I would NEVAH use such language, NEVAH! (uh huh) Thanks for playing along, Carl!

  7. Whoa…are you suggesting I have weird habits? Okay, here goes…

    1. I work from home, parked in front of a computer, listening to doctors, which one might imagine would require my full attention but in order to concentrate I also need to have CourtTV’s live trial coverage going, as well as the police scanner.

    2. I crack jokes all the time and some people find it disconcerting. For example, I recently was getting recertified on first aid and CPR and during the demonstration video of the Heimlich maneuver the man on the video was coughing. I thought he sounded like a cat hacking up a furball and I said so. Then later, the instructor was on the floor demonstrating the steps of CPR and telling us that if these steps didn’t work the subject probably wouldn’t make it. I pointed out that the subject (a demonstration dummy) had no arms, no legs, no pelvis and she was bald so she would probably be okay with that. You get the picture.

    3. I ALWAYS have to be the driver. I get carsick just thinking about someone else driving.

    4. When I’m at home I don’t answer the door if I’m not expecting anyone. Seriously, it could be Publishers Clearing House out there but I won’t answer the door if they don’t call first.

    5. I’ve been a vegetarian since 1977. While I don’t find this particularly weird, there are still plenty of people out there who do. I’m very low-key about it though and it amuses me when one of my best friends tries to bring me deer jerky every year, and when reminded of my eating habits he insists he forgets.

Other than that I’m perfect in every way…okay, so maybe that’s not completely true but I choose to believe it.

  8. I have been a slow poster this week, so I’ll just comment here.

    1. I like to sleep diagonally in bed. One of our best purchases ever was a king sized bed!

    2. The only gifts I want for Christmas each year from James are stocking stuffers and fun, new Christmas decorations. I really like animatronic type Christmas stuff.

    3. I love leftovers from dinner for breakfast.

    4. I love to watch the washing machine agitate. I easily lose 10 minutes of my time from becoming engrossed in the movements. I think the back and forth motion must be good for my nervous system. Or, maybe I’m a tired mom who shuts down easily!

    5. I’ve been known to nap while sitting on the toilet. Definitely a result of being a tired mom.

  9. Here’s my list, Carl:

    1) I can’t bring myself to do these list things, so I’ll secretly do it on Carl’s blog!

    2) I hate onions but recently have found that my reasons are completely untenable.

When I think of 3-5, I’ll post them too!

  10. I’ve been meme’d!!! Well, it stormed so I don’t expect much business in the library roday so I’ll have plenty of time to figure it out huh?

  11. I guess I shouldn’t post things late at night. I’m kinda embarrassed now about number 5! I hate blogger’s remorse!

  12. Don’t be embarrassed by that Jules! I just confessed to someone that I read a little bit each day…because I get reading time done when I’m on the toilet! As long as you don’t fall off and crack your head open there is nothing to be embarrassed about.

  13. 3) Some fractions I just don’t get. What the heck is a fifth of liquor? Fifth of what?

What about a “fifth wheel”? Why do they call it that? Doesn’t it have four wheels?

And how about quarter notes and eighth notes in music? Where’d that come from?!

If you’re going to use mathematic terminology, at least make some dang sense about it!

  14. “at least make some dang sense about it! ”

So now you’ve become Mr Potty Mouth all of a sudden?!?!?!

  15. Quarter notes= one fourth of a “regular” measure; i.e., 4/4 time signature. Ditto for eighth notes; eight of ’em in a a “normal” measure.

Or, wait, were you being sarcastic?

  16. fifth wheel

A wheel or portion of a wheel placed horizontally over the forward axle of a carriage to provide support and stability during turns.
A similar device over the rear axle or axles of a tractor or pickup truck, serving as a coupling for a semitrailer.
An additional wheel carried on a four-wheeled vehicle as a spare.

So, they’re being literal when they’re saying a fifth wheel!!!!

  17. Mosker tagged me, so I commented on both blogs:

1.I make lists all the time. It helps me organize my day. I feel stressed if I have several things to do at home or work; it is such a relief to make a list! I never go to the grocery store or Wal-Mart without a list.

2.When I take out my contacts, which are clear, I screw the cap on, then I have to re-check to make sure the contacts are really in there.

3.I always take a book with me everywhere I go in case I get a chance to read.

4.There are several young adult books that I re-read each year.

5.I always take my lunch late so I will only have 3 hours of work left when I get back.
